Intersection upgrades to begin

Upgrades to the Fletcher Street and Epping Road intersection are set to begin this Thursday, May 16.

Crews will start major civil works to upgrade the road’s intersection with Fletcher Street in Epping following ongoing utilities relocation works in recent months.

The works at this intersection will include building sections of the new southbound lanes on Epping Road, a traffic island and new and improved turning lanes in and out of Fletcher Street.

Fletcher Street will remain closed at Epping Road until mid-September so crews can safely complete the intersection upgrade.

Epping Road will remain open in both directions, and access to Fletcher Street will be maintained via Hayston Boulevard and Findon Road.

Access to businesses and private property will be maintained at all times.

Major Road Projects Victoria says drivers should plan their journeys and allow extra time when travelling through the area.

The commencement of works at Fletcher Street follows the project’s completion in February of works to upgrade Epping Road’s key intersection with Baltrum Drive.

Major Road Projects Victoria program director Dipal Sorathia said the upgrades are an important step for commuters.

“The improvements to the Fletcher Street intersection will help the Epping Road Upgrade achieve its goal of safer, more reliable travel between Wollert and Epping,” he said.

“We thank the community and drivers for their patience as we complete these important major works.”
