Fast start for Pacers

The Whittlesea Pacers have shown they belong in division 1 of the Big V men’s competition, with a perfect start to the season after earning promotion at the end of last season.

The Pacers are a perfect four from four this year coming off two wins over the weekend in a double-header fixture.

On Saturday the Pacers had a convincing 106-91 win over Chelsea at Patterson River Secondary College.

They controlled the game from the outset and demonstrated the depth of the team’s roster, with all 11 players that played making a contribution to the scoreboard.

The Gulls on the other hand couldn’t get anything going with their second unit and finished the match with their bench scoreless.

The Pacers then returned home and continued their hot streak, running over the top of Warrandyte 112-87.

They outscored the Venom in every quarter to round out a highly successful weekend.

Pacers coach Des Radoslovic said he couldn’t be more proud of his players.

“We play a different game style to other teams in the league,” he said.

“We play a fast-paced and high pressure game.

“We might not necessarily have big names on paper, but if the game is on our terms we know we can do well.”

The Pacers will face their biggest challenge of the season so far when they take on RMIT University.

The Redbacks have also been unbeaten in five matches this season.
