Pets protected for less

Low-cost pet vaccinations are coming to Mickleham next week.

RSPCA Victoria will be conducting a vet-run clinic for Hume pet owners this month, aimed at making veterinary care more accessible for people and their pets, during the cost-of-living crisis.

Rebecca Cook, head of prevention for RSPCA Victoria, said the RSPCA was looking forward to helping more pet owners.

“At our recent clinic in Kalkallo we saw 35 local pets and their owners, and we saw 20 local pets at our previous Roxburgh Park clinic,” she said.

“We can’t wait to hit the road again and look forward to meeting more furry friends.

“We have now held 57 low-cost vaccination events across Melbourne and saved each pet owner at least $50 on average per pet.”

Appointments must be booked online in advance with limited places available.

If you are looking to have more than one pet jabbed, separate appointments must be made for each animal.

For $59 a dog or cat will receive their preventative vaccines and be checked by an RSPCA veterinarian to ensure they are fit for their vaccinations.

RSPCA also advised that in line with nation-wide shortages of the F3 vaccine, the team are currently unable to vaccinate cats, however, can still do basic health checks.

Pet owners can also receive professional advice on how to keep them healthy now and into the future.

The clinic will take place at the Mickleham North Community Centre on Wednesday, April 10.
