Stars knock off Lower Eltham

Lalor Stars got their fourth win of the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Money Shield season with a big win against Lower Eltham.

Having made 171 on day one of the match, the Stars had Lower Eltham in trouble at 3-17 at stumps.

The Stars got off to a perfect start on day two of the match, taking a wicket without Lower Eltham adding to its overnight score.

Already in trouble, Lower Eltham crumbled to 5-37. Lower Eltham lower order put in a fightback and pushed the score past 100.

The fightback would fall short, with the Stars bowling Lower Eltham out for 145.

Jamie Scott took four wickets for the Stars.

The Stars sit in seventh spot.

Bundoora United was the big winner on Saturday despite not getting an outright win on Saturday.

The Bulldogs had already claimed first innings points against Greensbourgh on day one of their match.

The Bulldogs declared at 9-164 early on day two

William Brennan, who was not out on day one, top scored with 64.

Greensborough had a better second innings with the bat to take the outright win out of the equation.

Greensborough was bowled out 215. Luke Joyce and Myer Zealley took three wickets each for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs finished 2-31 in their second innings.

The win moves the Bulldogs up to second on the ladder.

Bundoora Park sits percentage outside the top four after a strong win against Banyule.

Needing 222 for victory, the Thunderbolts were able to form partnerships throughout the innings.

A win looked unlikely when they fell to 8-158.

The Thunderbolts tail of Blair Healy (47 not out) and Sam Farmer (21 not out) got them over the line, finishing 8-222.

In other results, Laurimar lost to Eltham outright, while Plenty beat Montmorency.

In the Barclay Shield, Bundoora continued its good form of late beating Diamond Creek, while Epping returned to the winners list, beating Rosanna.

Epping sits in second spot, while Bundoora is in sixth spot, nine points outside the top four with two games remaining.
