Man charged after armed robbery

A 42-year-old Beveridge man has been charged following an attempted armed robbery at a licensed premises in Airport West last year.

The man was arrested in Broadmeadows on Tuesday morning.

He was subsequently interviewed by police and has since been charged with aggravated burglary with a firearm, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, criminal damage, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail, and theft of motor vehicle.

The man was set to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The charge follows an incident at a licensed venue on Matthew Avenue in Airport West on Monday, September 18.

Investigators will allege a blue Nissan Navara rammed the front door of the gaming venue shortly after 4am.

Two armed men then attempted to gain access to the gaming area but were stopped by security barriers.

The duo fled the scene empty handed.

Staff inside the premises at the time were not physically injured during the incident.
