A year that went down as a celebration of 60 years for Lalor Secondary College will have a number of buildings going down with it.
As some big upgrades gear up for 2024, some original buildings from 1963 will be demolished, but college principal Corey Jewell said “they have had their time.”
“For day one of 2024, the two court gym, fitness centre, cafeteria, and new food technology building will be open and ready to go,” he said.
“The multistorey building with the new library, wellbeing hub, administration, senior study area, a new arts floor, and new senior classrooms with a rooftop garden space has been delayed and will be open mid-term 1 of 2024.
Mr Jewell said a number of specialist spaces including arts, technology, hospitality, and sports and fitness will give every student a home.
“The upgrades will provide designated spaces for students who are like minded to gather together and immerse themselves in the areas they have passion for, as well as senior student spaces for an adult learning environment,” he said.
“Wellbeing programs get a designated space with additional resourcing and the new facilities allow curriculum design to be more innovative and flexible.”
Upgrades were originally approved in 2021 and are now just around the corner from being complete.
