Thousands of meals for those in need

The Craigieburn Sporting Club has continued its commitment to lending a helping hand to struggling families across Hume especially as Christmas closes in.

With more than half a million Australians struggle to feed their families on any given day, club operations manager Samantha Burton said they are committed to continuing support well into next year.

“Our involvement in this program has been an eye-opening and fulfilling experience,” she said. “It’s not just about giving back to the community; it’s about making a real, impactful difference in the lives of those around us.

“Seeing the direct impact of our efforts, the happiness, and relief on the face of families, has been extremely touching and we are excited to continue our commitment to this program in 2024.”

The team at the club has been instrumental in tasks such as stocking the Foodbank’s Mobile Supermarket Bus with essential food items and directly distributing them to Victorians in need.

On November 22, 2023, in collaboration with Foodbank Victoria, volunteers packed the mobile supermarket with over four tonnes of fresh produce and pantry staples which they then distributed to 159 families.

Community Club’s Victoria chief executive Andrew Lloyd commends the proactive and compassionate approach of the Craigieburn Sporting Club.

“This partnership is more than a collaboration; it’s an example of unwavering support and solidarity for those who need it most.”
