Time for an upgrade

Have your say up until December 10. (supplied)

Upgrades are coming to the streetscape at The Boulevard shopping strip in Thomastown.

Whittlesea council is inviting the community to have their say on the proposed improvements, with consultation open until December 10.

The draft plan includes upgrades to improve access and safety, and to create an inviting space to shop and spend time with family and friends.

New pedestrian crossings, larger footpaths and trading areas, bike hoops, trees and garden beds and improved bus stops are just some of the improvements proposed.

Whittlesea council chair administrator Lydia Wilson said the upgrades would help make the space inviting and enjoyable for the local community.

“The new streetscape will improve community spaces, accessibility and safety for our residents and visitors, making it easier to connect with others and enjoy the space,” she said.

“We encourage the community, including local residents, visitors to the shopping strip and local traders to view the draft plan and provide their feedback to help shape this important upgrade.”

The draft plans will also be on show at The Boulevard Street Party on Saturday, December 2 at 213 Station Street Thomastown from 10am-1pm.

Following community feedback, the council will finalise the design with the aim to start construction in the 2024-25 financial year.
