Diwali celebrations have kicked off in Hume, with Stockland Highlands and Stockland Katalia hosting community events, with more than 200 people getting involved in the festivities.
Diwali, the religious festival that symbolises the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, takes place during a number of weeks and was a huge success among locals on the past weekend.
Highlands residents enjoyed Bollywood dances, fire-twirling performances, henna artists, and traditional food vans.
At Katalia, residents were treated to delicious Indian delicacies, children’s craft activities, and interactive performances from traditional dancers.
Stockland development director James Hawker said Stockland takes pride in hosting community events that bring people together.
“Stockland’s Diwali celebrations are fast becoming a community favourite. We’re always delighted to see residents join us for this vibrant event each year, and it gives people an opportunity to learn more about the cultural significance of this festival,” he said.
“We have a busy calendar of events for our residents at Highlands and Katalia, and we look forward to hosting our residents as we enter the festive season.”
Stockland Cloverton is hosting another Diwali event on Saturday, November 18 from 6-9pm at the Kalkallo Recreation Reserve on 45 Toyon Road.
