Westmeadows has run away with the win in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association’s senior division local derby.
The Warriors took on Craigieburn at D.S Aitken Reserve over the last two weeks.
The Eagles won the toss and elected to bat first last Saturday and were travelling nicely, with opening batsman Manpreet Singh Mahla top-scoring for the side with 66.
The runs kept coming for the Eagles as they looked to be in a dominant position at 5-165 with their first drop batsman still at the crease.
However, the next five wickets fell for just 25 runs as the Warriors bowlers ran through the Eagles middle and bottom order.
With 188 the Warriors’ target for victory, there was still a target to bowl at the for Eagles, and they weren’t going down without a fight.
The opening stand was strong with skipper Donovan Pell and Michael Pell combining for 51 before the first wicket of Michael fell.
Donovan went on to notch up a great century off 198 balls, however, no one else in the top order could go with him losing the next three wickets for 40 runs.
Ryan Nankervis and Pell were able to steady the ship putting on a 56 run partnership to put the Warriors back into control of the game.
When Nankervis fell for 21 there was still work to be done still needing 41 for victory.
The Eagles were able to take a few more wickets, however the Warriors reached the target with relative comfort, finishing 8-193 from 69.3 overs.
After two completed rounds of the VTCA season, the Warriors are one and one, while the Eagles are yet to win a game.
