Aitken Creek consultation

There is currently 21 contributions from the community. (Hume council)

Hume Council is preparing an Open Space Masterplan for the Aitken Creek Corridor in Craigieburn from Aitken Boulevard to Merri Creek, and is seeking community feedback.

This initiative seeks to promote healthy, liveable, walkable neighbourhoods.

It is for the Hume community and visitors alike.

The master plan will guide improvements that support community recreation.

Council said they will continue to enhance and protect ecological and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage values.

Via the participate Hume website, residents can drop a marker on the map to provide comments around the areas of Aitken Creek, and suggest improvements or issues.

There is also a survey which asks questions about use of Aitken Creek, including the best parts about it and the parts that could be improved.

Suggestions already given by the community include adding signage about the local species around the creek, and signs on the trail outlining how far public facilities such as the train station is from the trail.

On Saturday, November 11 there is a walk and talk session along the creek with council officers and master plan consultants, allowing residents to learn more and give their personal perspective on the creek as locals.

The consultation period closes on Monday, November 27, with the master plan to be finalised in April 2024.
