Hume Council and the CFA are joining forces ahead of this summer, to hold a community meeting to discuss the threat of grassfire in the north.
This ‘Walk 2 Street Back’ presentation aims to inform residents on the actions that should be taken in the event of a fire this summer.
The CFA will educate event goers on how fast grassfires can spread, and how to understand one’s own area and how to look out for dangers.
The event will also outline the reasons for the initiative to walk two streets back in the case of a grassfire, and will emphasise the importance of knowing when to search for shelter and when to escape.
The presentation takes place on Sunday, November 26 from 2pm – 4pm at the new Kalkallo Community Centre.
