Driving community education

An information session has helped local residents understand how the Epping Road Upgrade will provide safer, more-reliable travel in Melbourne’s north.

Members of the project team conducted the session at the upgrade’s construction support site in Wollert on Saturday, October 28.

Team members presented information and answered questions, with participants also enjoying a free barbecue and themed giveaways for the younger attendees.

MRPV Program Director Adrian Furner said it was a privilege to host the session and inform the community of the upgrades and the benefits they will have.

“The information session was a great opportunity to encourage two-way communication between our project team and the community. We thank everyone who attended,” he said.

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) is delivering the upgrade with construction partner McConnell Dowell.

Crews are currently conducting important works to relocate and protect 17km of essential underground services as part of the upgrade.

Relocating and protecting the services will allow crews to start building extra lanes in each direction on Epping Road between Craigieburn Road East, Wollert, and Memorial Avenue, Epping.

The project will also improve six intersections and connections for pedestrians and cyclists.

Due for completion in 2025, the upgrade will provide safer, more-reliable journeys for the 35,000 drivers who use Epping Road daily in Melbourne’s north.
