Motorists and passengers in Melbourne’s north are urged to plan ahead with travel changes over the next three weeks for level crossing removal and North East Link projects.
Buses will replace trains on sections of the Mernda line, between Parliament and Epping from 11pm Friday, July 14 to the last service on Sunday, July 16 and between Reservoir and Epping from Thursday, July 27 to the last service on Tuesday, August 1.
Passengers should check the PTV website or mobile app before travelling and to allow extra time for the journey, with a mix of limited express and stopping all stations buses in operation.
While works take place on the Mernda Line, Keon Parade in Reservoir will close at the level crossing between High Street and Johnson Street at the following times, 9pm Friday, July 14 to 5am Monday, July 17, 9pm Wednesday, July 26 to 5am Wednesday, August 2, 9pm Friday, August 4 to 5am Saturday, August 5.
Motorists should allow up to 15 minutes extra for the detours including Settlement Road, or High Street and Cheddar Road.
The level crossing on Keon Parade will be removed by building a 750 metre long rail bridge over the road, and a brand new Keon Park Station will be open for passengers by 2025.
The North East Link Tunnels will connect the M80 Ring Road to the Eastern Freeway, taking 15,000 trucks a day off local roads and reducing travel times by up to 35 minutes.
