GPC Asia Pacific has announced Broadmeadows as the home of its distribution centre.
The automotive parts and accessories company opened the 39,000 square metre centre in late June.
The facility will deliver a major economic boost to Hume, forecasting the creation of more than 200 ongoing jobs and more than 50 contract roles.
Hume mayor Joseph Haweil said he is excited by the possibilities that come with this announcement.
“We’re thrilled Broadmeadows is now an important part of the company’s growth into the future,” Cr Halwai said.
“Council welcomes the economic benefits the GPC Asia Pacific operation brings to Hume.”
Once finished, the Broadmeadows estate will be the first industrial estate in Victoria to target a Green Star Communities rating.
It will house around 127,000 square metres of sustainable, premium warehousing spaces as well as an on-site cafe, local retail amenities, parking and access to public transport.
With a focus on sustainability throughout the estate’s development, 98% of the materials from the demolition of the existing buildings were recycled.
