Saints get over Hume

The St Albans Saints returned to the winners list with a big win against Hume City on Sunday in the National Premier League.

The Saints entered the match having lost their last three games and Hume its last two meaning a win was vital for both sides.

Both sides came into the game on the back of big weeks, having been knocked out of the Australia Cup on Tuesday night.

Scores were locked at 0-0 at half time, before the Saints hit the lead in the 63rd minute.

The Saints were able to put the icing on the cake with goals in the 84th and 87th minutes to seal the win.

Hume sits in 10th spot, with the Saints just one point behind them in 10th spot.

In other results, Green Gully got an important win on Friday night beating Port Melbourne, 3-1 on Friday night.

Port Melbourne led at half time after scoring in the opening minutes, before the Cavaliers scored three second half goals to get the win.

The Cavaliers sit in sixth spot, with a number of teams hot on their heels.

Melbourne Knights’ good form continued with a 1-0 win against the Bentleigh Greens.

The Knights scored in the 59th minute to get the win and maintain its fourth spot.
