Broadmeadows’ Kangan Institute was today visited by Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Roads Melissa Horne to meet some of the local apprentices who will no longer need to pay for their registration.

From July 1 apprentices will be eligible for free vehicle registration, saving them up to $865 every year.

This is a part of a $10 million initiative in May’s state budget.

“We are proud to be supporting our local hard-working tradies and easing the cost of living

pressures where we can,” Macedon MP Mary Anne- Thomas said.

Over 12,000 apprentices and trainees are already taking advantage of the government’s current scheme of giving apprentices a 50 per cent discount on their vehicle’s registration.

Eligible apprentices can apply for the free vehicle registration via the myVicRoads portal on

the VicRoads website.
