Identity thief purchases car in Bundoora

Police are investigating a woman who is believed to have used a false identity to purchase a car in early May.

The woman reportedly entered a car dealership on Grimshaw Street in Bundoora, about 10.30 am on May 4.

The woman is said to have used a modified driver’s license and stolen identity details to purchase a $42,000 Volkswagen Golf on finance.

The stolen identity details are said to have also been used to make disaster relief claims and in attempts to obtain finance from a range of financial institutions.

The suspect is described to be between the ages of 35 and 45, with long brown hair and a medium build.
