Hume City is hoping to continue its good run of form in the National Premier League competition, after tinkering with its coaching line up.

Cameron Watson has now taken on the role of senior head coach, while Colin Cooper, who was appointed coach after the club parted ways with Ersan Gulum, will be an assistant coach.

Speaking to Hume TV before Friday night’s match with Heidelberg United, Watson said it was nice to put a couple of wins together.

“The boys have come off the back of two wins which has been great which is always a nice confidence booster,” he said.

“That has come off a topsy turvy month in terms of results, that is a positive.

“We have had a couple of players come back into the squad, which is always a nice boost for the players that have been playing and for those obviously coming back in.”

Watson said they had started to see some improvements the last month which has included the side progressing to the final Victorian stage of the Australia Cup.

He said they wouldn’t go away from what was working.

“Before the cup game on the back of a loss, a couple[of losses],” he said.

“Getting that win in the cup always goes a long way especially for the changeroom. We took that into the game against Altona [Magic] and I think that little bit of change of mindset positivity.

“It’s always hard to see the boys a little bit down, but I think that has changed dramatically now.

“It’s about continuing that and building on that and just trusting each other on the field and trusting the process again.”

Hume is set to face Heidelberg United tonight at the Olympic Village.

Heidelberg sits 11th on the table.
