A drink driver was lucky to escape injury after colliding with a train in Thomastown early on Sunday morning.

The 36-year-old driver allegedly attempted to travel through a set of boom gates at the Epping and Settlement roads intersection at 3.10 am.

The Doveton male blew an alleged breath test result of 0.113 and is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic related offenses.
