Hume council funding extended

Hume council has had its current Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) funding extended for a further year until June 30, 2024.

The CHSP provides entry-level support for older people who require care to stay at home.

Service providers work with older people to help them maintain their independence and keep them as well as possible. This support includes:

Assistance with everyday living activities, such as domestic assistance, delivered and centre-based meals, home maintenance and support to attend social activities

– Help with personal care, such as showering and getting dressed

– Assistance with finding services and support that meets the needs and preferences of older individuals

– Opportunities for leisure, social participation, civic participation, and life-long learning

The number of people aged 65 years or older living in Hume council is expected to increase by 45 per cent over the next 10 years and 94 per cent by 2041.
