Craigieburn man charged

A Craigieburn man has been charged after police executed several warrants on Wednesday as part of an investigation into two firearms incidents in the northern suburbs.

Police executed warrants in Greenvale, Coolaroo and Craigieburn in relation to the incidents, which police believe are linked.

The first incident occurred at a property in Thomastown over two days in January.

Emergency services were called to the Barry Road property after people nearby reported hearing gunshots about 1am on January 24.

Police became aware of a previously unreported shooting which occurred at the same address about 5am the previous day.

It is believed shots were fired into the property and a 40-year-old Thomastown man received a gunshot wound to his arm.

The second incident occurred on February 10 when a 27-year-old Greenvale man self-presented to hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police believe the shooting occurred at approximately 11pm in the vicinity of Guildford Avenue in Coolaroo.

A white Toyota Camry was captured on CCTV driving away from the address at a fast speed.

A 22-year-old Craigieburn man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, prohibited person possess firearm, possess cartridge ammunition, manner dangerous driving, drive whilst disqualified, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and two counts of contravention of bail condition..

As part of this investigation, police released CCTV of the vehicle they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

They are also keen to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Guildford Avenue, Coolaroo at the time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
