Eagles lock in pieces

More pieces of the puzzle are coming together for the Craigieburn Eagles ahead of the Big V seasons.

The club has recently announced new signings for both their men’s and women’s programs.

Alana Ellis joins the Eagles from the RMIT Redbacks. She had previously played at Keilor Thunder and played junior basketball at the Sunbury Jets.

“I came to Craigieburn to play D1 and to elevate my basketball development under a great coach and supportive club. I’m very excited to get the season underway and to play with such a great bunch of girls,” Ellis said on the club’s social media.

Nicola Stewart returns to the side and is hoping to back up a strong 2022 season. The Eagles said on social media that other club’s should watch out.

“We have watched La grow, expand her game and now she’s ready to explode,” the club said.

“I tell you what, her teammates are keen for the season to start so that the rest of the competition can feel the bruises she has been dishing out all preseason.”

On the men’s side, Gene Vocale returns to the club.

He was part of the Sunbury Jets state championship grand final side last year.

He returns to the Eagles with unfinished business and wants to create a winning culture.

“[In] 2019 Gene Vocale left the nest for an opportunity to play at state champ level and maximise his game and now he returns ready to lead this team,” the club said.

The other recent player announcement by the Eagles was the re-signing of Calvin Jazmin.

Jazmin had a breakout season for the Eagles last season.
