Northern Health staff celebrated National Croissant Day on Monday.
Staff from the Transcultural and Language Services (TALS) team marked the day by indulging in the famous Parisian delight.
The TALS department has 43 staff members, who cover 16 languages, providing in-house interpretation and translation services to the multicultural patient community.
Northern Health chief allied health officer Jason Cirone handed out the croissants to the staff as a morning treat.
“A big thank you to the TALS team for the incredible work they do every year, especially over the last few years,” he said.
“They have been adaptable, moving between virtual and face-to-face models of working, during COVID.”
The IT team also joined in the celebrations, helping to devour some of the three hundred donated croissants.
Northern Health’s executive director of digital health Anthony Gust said this was a wonderful way to say thank you to our staff for their ongoing hard work and dedication to the health service, as well as their resilience throughout the pandemic.
“The team will really enjoy this recognition and it’s great to be able to do things like this again now that restrictions are easing,” he said.
“Gestures like this make people feel appreciated. It’s great to acknowledge the great work they do every day.”
