New Mernda Town Centre Woolworths store opens with more than 70 employment

Shoppers in Mernda are set to experience Woolworths’ new store at Mernda Town Centre, with an expanded fresh food experience, convenient shopping options and several new employment opportunities.

The new Mernda Town Centre Woolworths represents the supermarket’s commitment in the community, with a multi-million dollar investment into the new look store. An additional 70 new team members have been employed, many of whom will service the growing popularity of home delivery and the anticipated Direct to Boot offering, due to open in December.

Customers will be able to choose from an extensive range of fruit and vegetables, as well as 100 per cent Australian meat from Aussie farmers and a great variety of fresh, local seafood from the fish market. Also on offer will be stone baked breads and pastries from the full production bakery, plus an extensive international food selection of authentic Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian products.

Mernda Town Centre Woolworths store manager Vince Alessandrino, who has been part of the Woolworths team for 23 years, said: “We’re incredibly excited to open the Mernda Town Centre store and introduce new and exciting ways for customers to shop. We hope that locals will enjoy the expanded range of international delicacies throughout the store, and those who are looking for easy dinner ideas can find a number of flavourful Bag & Bake marinades or ready meals in store. ”

The store will offer convenient shopping options for customers including Scan&Go, which allows customers to scan products on their smartphone as they shop, securely pay in the app and skip the check-out queues when they leave the store.

Customers will notice a large Macro Wholefoods market offering, an increased selection of plant-based protein and a dedicated offering of gluten-free foods found throughout the store. Proudly supporting local suppliers, Mernda Town Centre Woolworths has also expanded its range to feature a number of products from locally owned Victorian businesses such as Gippsland Jersey and Meredith Dairy.

The team at Mernda Town Centre Woolworths is dedicated to supporting the local community and proudly partners with FareShare, where their driver collects surplus fruit and vegetables to help provide meals to locals in need.

Store highlights include:

● Bakery – Your one-stop shop for gourmet loaves, perfect pastries and decadent desserts. The team are not just baking the bread but offering to slice it for you too. Drop by for some delicious treats today.

● Scan&Go – is built into the Woolworths App, and can be downloaded from the App and Google Play stores. Customers must be Woolworths Rewards members and will need to upload an accepted credit or debit card to the app before shopping.
