Bats sneak home

Plenty Valley snuck home for a second match in the Victorian Premier Cricket T20 competition on Sunday.

After beating Prahran by one run in round two, the Bats were able to pull back Carlton to sneak home.

Wet weather played havoc with all round three games moved to Beaumaris Secondary College. Round four which was also meant to be played on Sunday, was cancelled.

The Bats started well against Carlton and were travelling nicely at 1-96. While they lost three wickets in the back of the innings, they finished 4-136.

Emma Corney top scored with 64 before being run out.

Carlton were in control early well above the run rate. Carlton quickly went from 0-64 to 4-82.

The match would go down to the final over, with Carlton needing 17 for the win. It would fall short, restricted to 6-131. Rebeka Vandort was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-11 off her four overs.

It was a tough start for the Greenvale Kangaroos in their first women’s premier match.

The Kangaroos finally got to take to the field after their first two games were called off the week before due to the weather.

Playing in the premier seconds competition, the Kangaroos were no match for Ringwood.

Ringwood made 4-125 from its 20 overs, with Caitlin Shaw the pick of the bowlers for the Kangaroos with 2-10 off her four overs.

The Kangaroos lost three quick wickets to be in trouble at 3-12. They were able to steady but another three wickets put an end to any tilt at the total.

The Kangaroos finished 6-64 from their overs. Isabella Shaw top scored with 19.

The Kangaroos second XI, which plays in the premier thirds competition, also lost to Ringwood in its first match.
