Warrant enforcement is being undertaken across a number of suburbs, including Craigieburn, by Sheriff’s Office Victoria.
Individuals who are contacted by a Sheriff, served a seven day notice or have had their car clamped due to an outstanding warrant should contact Fines Victoria.
A Department of Justice and community services spokesperson said: “Once a fine is registered with Fines Victoria it does not expire and can be enforced at any time.
“We encourage people experiencing difficulty to contact Fines Victoria as there are many flexible options available, including paying by instalments.”
A range of support is available for individuals who may have difficulty paying their fines or outstanding warrants and can apply for a review with special circumstances.
Special circumstances could include intellectual disabilities, mental illness, addiction or drug dependence, homelessness or family violence.
Options available for those with special circumstances include payment plans and the ability to work off fines through a work and development permit scheme that allows participants to partake in unpaid work, counselling and treatment options for drug or alcohol issues with an accredited sponsor agency or health care professional.
