Roxburgh Park Lakes are some of more than 15 recently stocked with catchable-size rainbow trout.
Fishing and Boating minister Sonya Kilkenny was joined by Sunbury MP Josh Bull to release 30 rainbow trout in Spavin Lake, Sunbury last week.
The 30 trout were some of 1000 released into waters across greater Melbourne.
Funded by recreational fishing licence fees, the release forms part of the government’s $35 million Go Fishing Victoria plan to get more people fishing.
“Stocking our waters with rainbow trout right across greater Melbourne provides the perfect opportunity for locals and visitors to try their luck casting a line and have a great day out on the water,” Ms Kilkenny said.
The trout are good fishing for beginner fishers, because they’re easy to catch and take a variety of baits and lures.
Rainbow trout are just some of the 10 million fish released across the state over the past year.
