The Altona-bound lanes of the M80 Ring Road are closed between Sydney Road and Pascoe Vale Road, due to a serious collision.
The Department of Transport said significant congestion is expected on the M80 in both directions, on surrounding roads and along detour routes, so drivers are asked to be patient and to avoid the area where possible.
Drivers exiting at Sydney Road can then travel north and use Camp Road and Pascoe Vale Road through Broadmeadows, or continue south into Coburg and detour using Bell Street and the Tullamarine Freeway to return to the M80.
This closure is under Victoria Police control. The freeway lanes will re-open when investigations are complete and it’s safe to do so.
