A 24-year-old Broadmeadows man is fighting for his life following a single vehicle crash in Essendon North on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Tullamarine Freeway, near the Bulla Road exit, following reports a car had crashed into a barrier about 12.45am.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police are investigating reports the man was speeding in her black Mazda 6 sedan just prior to the crash.
An examination of the vehicle at the scene uncovered a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone who may have seen the car prior to the crash.
