Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) is continuing planning and developmental work for the upgrade of Mickleham Road between Somerton Road and Dellamore Boulevard in Greenvale.
Anyone interested in providing feedback on the upgrade can do so by completing an online survey up until Sunday, July 17.
Feedback will assist the project team in the planning process and help identify environmental and social impacts- informing the final design and scope of the upgrade.
There are around 25,000 vehicles accessing Mickleham Road per day and this number is expected to increase due to the rapid growth in the area, with traffic volumes set to significantly exceed the capacity of the two-lane road.
The upgrade is set to reduce congestion and improve safety and travel time reliability along the road.
Stage one of the upgrade will involve building extra lanes in each direction on Mickleham Road between Somerton Road and Dellamore Boulevard and adding new traffic lights at the Aitken College intersection.
The roundabout at Somerton Road and Mickleham Road will be replaced with a new traffic light intersection and priority bus lanes will be installed.
Intersections at Hillview Road and Dellamore Boulevard will also be upgraded and new sections of walking and cycling paths will be built to help improve connectivity along Mickleham Road.
Yuroke MP Ros Spence said hearing from locals was imperative in ensuring that the works reflected community needs.
“The Mickleham Road Upgrade will ensure our community is better connected and reduce congestion for the thousands of drivers that use this road each day,” Ms Spence said.
“We’re encouraging the community to provide feedback on the project to ensure the upgrades at Mickleham Road meet the needs of the local community for years to come.”
