Bundoora’s last first XI premiership coach is back in the coaching hot seat at the Diamond Valley Cricket Association club.
The Bulls announced on social media that Wayne Wunhym would coach the side in 2022-23, replacing Clinton Dunning.
“After two years of fantastic guidance from Clinton Dunning as head coach, he has elected to step back from the coaching position,” the club said on social media.
“CD has done an excellent job leading the playing group during this time, culminating with two premierships in 2021-22.
“The club has been extremely lucky that a club legend, Wayne Wunhym (Flinders) has answered the call and accepted the position for 2022-23 and beyond.
“Flinders’ cricket experience and knowledge cannot be overstated. After starting his career with Bundoora, he moved to have a successful Premier Cricket career as a hard hitting batsman at Collingwood before returning to lead our last First XI premiership as captain coach.
“Flinders returns to our club with well over 20 years of coaching experience along with a passion for developing young cricket talent. With his support, we are sure we can take the next step and deliver the next great period of our club.”
Andrew Fairchild will continue on as first XI captain. The Bulls first the Money Shield season in sixth spot, a game outside the top four.
The Bulls have also announced an early off-season signing with Prince Singh joining the club full time.
Singh, who has played for the club in the Northern Region T20 competition, is a wicketkeeper-batsman who had been playing at Mitcham.
Last season he averaged nearly 44 with the bat.
