Dallas boy charged after a wild spree in Broadmeadows

A 17-year-old Dallas youth has been charged after he allegedly drove erratically through Broadmeadows, narrowly missing pedestrians and colliding with four cars, on Thursday afternoon (June 9).

It is alleged a grey Ford Territory wagon with false number plates, was driving recklessly along Barry Road about 3.25pm.

The vehicle was observed a short time later driving on the wrong side of the road on Corinella Crescent in Dallas and swerved to miss pedestrians before being followed by police.

The vehicle also collided with two cars on Blair Street. No one was injured.

The car then collided with two vehicles on Congram Street and was severely damaged when it came to a stop about 3.30pm.

A resident of Congram Street let the youth into his house to hide from police.

Police found the youth locked inside the house. He was subsquently arrested and charged on 16 counts including reckless conduct endangering serious injury, driving an unregistered vehicle, eight counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident to exchange details, possession of a drug of dependence and other traffic related offences.

He has been bailed to appear at the Children’s Court at a later date.
