Mickleham man shot dead

UPDATE: The victim of the Mickleham shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Korey Kesici.

The young man was shot multiple times after leaving home to meet with a number of men in a BMW sedan, police said.

The same car was later located burnt out on St George’s Boulevard, according to police.

Crime Command Acting Assistant Commissioner Mick Frewen said police believe it to be an organised criminal attack and are investigating the connection between Mr Kesici and the men in the silver BMW.

“It was more than a simple street exchange, the people that arrived in that street at the time came prepared for violence,” he said.

“They were armed, they had a vehicle that we believe has been burnt out and they obviously wanted to destroy evidence.”

No arrests have been made and a weapon is yet to be recovered.

Mr Kesici was known to police but not in a “significant” way. His family are assisting police with their investigation.

Police are asking anyone with any information or footage to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
