Vital funding for veterans and their families

Several projects across the state will share in $1 million to help improve the lives of veterans and their families.

Veterans Minister Shaun Leane made the announcement on April Friday 22.

The grants include $688,000 for 24 projects through the Veterans Capital Works Grant Program, which funds building upgrades for not-for-profit and ex-service organisations delivering services to veterans and their families across the state, including in Hume and Whittlesea.

Among the projects, Goorambat Veterans Retreat in the states north will be receiving $50,000 to refurbish an old school building to create crisis accommodation for veterans and their families who are dealing with a variety of challenges like financial hardship.

Mr Leane said: “We are ensuring veterans and their families have the assistance they need to build strong and successful lives after their service.”

“These grants support local communities to remember and honour the service of our veterans.

“This ANZAC Day, I encourage all Victorians to reflect on the immense sacrifice of our veteran community.”
