Hume City coach Nick Hegarty has announced that he is leaving the National Premier League club immediately.
In a statement, Hegarty said he informed players and the club that Saturday night’s match against St Albans Saints, was his last.
Hume lost that match 2-0.
“After yesterday’s match I advised the players and the club that it would be my last and I would be leaving the club immediately,” he said in the statement.
“Whilst it was inevitable as I move my family back to the UK later this year, it has happened now due to poor results, this is a fact that is without any doubt.
“It is time for a new voice and new ideas to help move us up the table.”
Hume is currently win less in the NPL competition, an unusual position for the club to be in.
Hegarty, who starred as a player with Hume, before taking over as coach in two stints, leaves a massive mark on the club.
He coached the club to a Dockerty Cup title in 2019, the club’s first silverware.
Hegarty was full of praise for the club.
“Hume City has been my family for over 10 years,” he said. “I am so proud to have achieved what I have on behalf of the great people it represents.
“I would like to thank every board member, volunteer, coach, player and parent I have met throughout the years as you have made mine and my families journey one I could never of hoped for.
“You will all be forever in my heart as I hope I am yours.”
