A 32-year-old Mickleham man is one of two men who will face court after allegedly ramming a police vehicle and engaging in dangerous driving across Melbourne’s north yesterday (April 7).
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated reckless exposure to police officer of risk by driving and trafficking a drug of dependence.
A 31-year-old man has also been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, commit indictable offence while on bail and other charges.
The charges follow an extensive police response through Broadmeadows, Campbellfield, Reservoir and Coburg after a silver Ford Falcon ran a red light and travelled onto the wrong side of the road.
After a high speed chase, the car was dumped and the driver was picked up by an associate, police allege.
The pair allegedly continued to drive erratically, at times travelling in excess of 100km/h, even driving on the wrong side of the road and were also seen to swerve onto a media strip to avoid oncoming traffic.
Police allege that as officers closed in on them in an underground carpark in Coburg, a police car was rammed multiple times as one of the men attempted to flee.
He was arrested shortly after following a foot pursuit and the other man was arrested in the carpark.
A search of the car uncovered quantities of suspected GHB, methylamphetamine, cash and drug paraphernalia, police said.
The men have been remanded and will appear before Broadmeadows Magistrates Court today (April 8).
