Thomastown Mosque and the ICMG Meadow Heights Mosque will open their doors to friends and neighbours on Sunday, March 13 for the Islamic Council of Victoria’s Mosque Open Day.
ICV vice president Mohamed Mohideen said Muslims across Victoria were excited to welcome people to their mosques in the spirit of friendship and solidarity.
“Our diversity is our strength, and now more than ever, we all need to get to know our neighbours and colleagues as people with different backgrounds and beliefs”, he continued.
Visitors will be able to participate in a range of activities including guided mosque tours, hijab tutorials, henna tattoo art, and discussions about Islamic beliefs. Visitors can also enjoy the tasty food on offer and the wonderful hospitality.
ICV president Adel Salman emphasised the open and welcoming nature of mosques.
“As well as being a sacred space for prayer and reflection, they are places where communities gather, learn from each other and share.”
