A family of six in Roxburgh Park were evacuated from their home Wednesday morning due to a fire in a garage.
Multiple calls were made to Fire Rescue Victoria to alert them to the blaze at a Villawood Avenue double-storey home at about 2am.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus cut through the garage door to access and control the fire, which was quickly brought under control.
One member of the family was assessed by Ambulance Victoria for smoke inhalation and taken to the hospital.
The garage has been extensively damaged, but firefighters prevented any further spread to the house.
Crews remained at the scene overnight to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and the scene was safe.
