Bundoora Park, Lalor Stars through to grand final

Bundoora Park’s hopes of back-to-back Northern Region T20 titles remains alive after the side won through to the grand final against Lalor Stars.

Bundoora Park had little trouble against Riverside in its semi final on Tuesday night.

Riverside was bowled out for 93, with Nathan Chrimes making 40 of those runs.

Thilina Herath and Blair Healy took three wickets each for Bundoora Park.

Bundoora Park’s run chase got off to a poor start with Herath going cheaply, but it was smooth running from that point.

Bundoora Park finished 1-96, hitting the winning runs with nearly seven overs remaining.

Tarwan Rennie finished unbeaten on 57.

Lalor Stars also put in a strong performance in their semi final against Preston Baseballers.

Sent in, the Baseballers were bowled out for 110 on the final ball of the innings.

David Newell top scored with 30.

Jordan Steele took three wickets off his two overs for the Stars.

The Stars got off to a flyer with the bat, putting on 78 for the opening partnership.

They would lose two quick wickets, but chased down the runs easily, finishing 2-115 off 8.3 overs.

David Worthington made 54 off 17 balls including five fours and five sixes.

It’s the third T20 grand final for the Stars in the past five years, with the team hoping to go one better and claim the title this time.

The grand final is set down for February 15.
