Greenvale Kangaroos fell just short of picking up their third win of the season, losing to Richmond in Victorian Premier Cricket on Saturday.

In a shortened match after rain delayed the start of the game, the Kangaroos made 9-152 from 42 overs.

Scott Dixon top scored with 33, as a number of players got starts without anyone going on with it.

The Kangaroos started well taking an early wicket and soon had another two including Victorian player Jake Fraser-McGurk.

The Kangaroos kept taking frequent wickets to keep the pressure on.

In the end the total was just short, with Richmond hitting the winning runs with just over two overs remaining.

Richmond finished 8-153.

Sean McNicholl and Darcy Bell took two wickets apiece for the Kangaroos.

The Kangaroos sit bottom of the table with two wins.

Meanwhile, it was a tough day out for Plenty Valley on Sunday in women’s premier cricket.

Melbourne piled on the runs making 4-306 from its overs with former Bats player Rhiann O’Donnell top scoring with 98 at the top of the order.

It was all single wicket takers for the Bats.

After losing both openers for ducks, the Bats never recovered and were bowled out for just 60.

Jasmine Nevins top scored with 27, but was the only player to reach double figures.

The Bats remain without a win.
