ANZAC Day clash for Westmeadows

Westmeadows annual Anzac Day clash is again one of the highlights of the Essendon District Football League calendar.

The EDFL this week released its fixture for the men’s competitions, which are all returning on April 2 after an extended period of time off, due to the 2021 season being called off early due to COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.

The Tigers will face Airport West for a second straight year on Anzac Day in division 1.

The Anzac Day game will be the only one played on the public holiday, taking place in the third round of the competition.

The Tigers, who finished fourth on the ladder, will kick their season off against the promoted Moonee Valley, before facing West Coburg in round two.

Round four they will come up against Roxburgh Park.

The Magpies will start their season off with a home game against Hillside.

They will then face Rupertswood in round two, and Craigieburn in round three, before their round four game against Westmeadows.

The Eagles return to division 1 after being relegated, will be against West Coburg.

Round two is against Airport West, before their round three clash against the Magpies.

The first four rounds will be rounded off against the Sunbury Kangaroos.

In the premier division, Greenvale will start its fixture against Keilor.

The side, which finished seventh on the ladder will face Glenroy in round two, followed by East Keilor in round three and Pascoe Vale in round four.

In division 2, Jacana faces Hadfield first up, before coming up against East Sunbury in round two.
