Ricky Damiano proves a star

A standout batting performance by Lalor Stars’ Ricky Damiano led his side to a win against Epping in round two of the Northern Region T20 cricket competition on Tuesday night.

After winning the toss, the Stars bowled first, with wickets spread across the team.

Mitchell Hayse and Damiano took two wickets each, and Joshua Nixon took one as they restricted Epping to 5-178.

Epping’s Todd Hughes made 63.

The Stars’ Damiano starred with the bat making 118 not out.

The team finished its innings with 5-184, and 21 balls remaining.

Laurimar won against Research Eltham Collegians.

The Collegians elected to bat, with the side finishing its innings with 8-123.

Laurimar’s Andrew Crook bowled well, taking 4-22.

The Power chased down the runs with one over remaining, finishing 4-127.

Mernda took home the win against Whittlesea in the pool five match.

Whittlesea batted first, with Brody Bell making 62 not out.

The side finished with 2-125.

Mernda had a slow start to its innings, with Lee Mottershead top scoring with 33.

Mernda made 5-127 to claim the win.

Bundoora United lost against Rosanna.

The Bulldogs’ Corey Cogan made 58 not out as his side finished with 5-176.

Rosanna won with 3-183 in reply to take the win.

Bundoora dominated Rivergum in the pool two match.

The Bulls batted first and finished 8-171, before restricting Rivergum to 7-100.

Bundoora Park defeated Old Paradians in the other pool two match.

The reigning champions finished the innings with 5-136, while Old Paradians fell short with 8-135.

In other matches, South Morang lost to Keon Park, Mill Park were defeated by Donath, and Thomastown United lost to Cameron.

Banyule, Heidelberg, Heidelberg West, Rosanna, Plenty, North Eltham Wanderers, Lower Eltham, Fairfield, and Preston Baseballers also recorded wins.
