Epping pupil Ilham has been announced as the Victorian Junior Ambassador to The Fred Hollows Foundation.

The Al Siraat College pupil was announced as the state’s ambassador at a ceremony for the Humanity Award last week.

The award acknowledges year 6 pupils who follow in Fred Hollows’ footsteps by demonstrating humanitarian values towards others, and celebrates those who show compassion, integrity, and kindness towards others.

Ilham was nominated by her peer, Noori, for her compassionate and altruistic acts of kindness.

“Ilham has been serving as a leader at Al Siraat College for two years, helping in humanitarian projects like fundraising for girls’ education internationally,” Noori said.

“Ilham recently ran an Eid gift box drive for orphans and local refugee kids living in Melbourne.

“She has helped people living in Syrian camps by sending toiletries packs, clothes, and medical aids.

“Ilham is an organised, kind, and generous human who thinks for others before herself.”

The foundation’s founding director Gabi Hollows said she was glad to celebrate the work of students like Ilham.

“It’s incredibly humbling to read about what [they’ve] all been doing, and I know that Fred himself would be so proud of the young humanitarians who have been honoured today,” she said.
