Jacson and Mariah Cecil balance their business and their new bub as the owners of Magnolia on Orchard cafe and restaurant in Doreen.
The pair welcomed their son, Ledger, in July this year, which introduced a new challenge on top of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Cecil said from the very beginning, since purchasing the business two years ago, there have been trials and tribulations.
“A majority of the time, we’ve been in lockdown,” Mr Cecil said.
“We were lucky, because we could do takeaway, we were able to keep a constant trade.
“It’s definitely nice coming out of it, and having things get back to normal.”
Mr Cecil said he has felt the community spirit right through the pandemic.
“It’s such a great community here,” he said.
“It’s the sort of area where you feel like you know everyone.
“Everybody really sticks together.”
Mr Cecil said, aside from welcoming his son, there was one memory that stood out as his favourite since taking ownership of Magnolia on Orchard.
“We did some fundraising after the bushfires,” he said.
“We ended up raising a good amount, and were able to actually help out.
“It was a good feeling, so many businesses ended up being a part of it once we got started.”
