M80 Ring Road closed overnight Wednesday

The M80 Ring Road will be closed overnight tonight.

The Victoria’s Big Build website has advised that from 10pm Wednesday, November 3 until 5am Thursday, November 4, the ring road will be closed Altona-bound between Edgars Road and the Hume Freeway.

The works are part of the $518 million upgrade between Sydney Road and Edgars Road.

Overall, the project will; deliver new lanes in each direction between Sydney Road and Edgars Road; install a smart freeway lane management system to better manage traffic flow; extend the Sydney Road on and off ramps to give drivers more time to merge; build new on and off ramps at Edgars Road to improve safety; improve access from the Hume Freeway to the M80 Ring Road and Edgars Road; install ramp-metering technology to manage the flow of traffic onto the freeway; and upgrade the cycling and pedestrian bridge.

The upgrade is scheduled for completion in early 2023.
