Kangan Institute has appointed a new head of campus.
Experienced education executive Carolyn Burr will start in the role on Monday.
Kangan Institute chief executive Sally Curtain said Ms Burr’s appointment would amplify the advantages being delivered to the local community.
“It’s an exciting time for Kangan Institute. This year we’ve completed a new veterinary clinic and a new Trades + Skills Centre, and planning work is underway on a new $60 million Health and Community Centre of Excellence,” Ms Curtain said.
“This appointment is a clear signal to Broadmeadows that we want to enhance and grow our participation in this vibrant community and economy. Carolyn will not only be an advocate for Kangan Institute, but for Broadmeadows more broadly.”
Ms Burr has headed La Trobe University’s on-campus student accommodation operations across three campuses since 2019. Her leadership experience extends to community volunteer roles, including as director, communication and strategic implementation for Rotary Melbourne.
She will also have a key role in implementing the return of on-campus face-to-face learning following the disruption of COVID-19.
As head of campus, Ms Burr is charged with developing strong relationships and networks across the Broadmeadows region, in addition to leading the campus internally.
“I’m delighted to be undertaking this role. For many years working in the education sector, I’ve seen first-hand the importance education has to local business and the local community, and its positive impact. Now I can make real change and implement this in Broadmeadows,” Ms Burr said.
“I’m looking forward to building on the great work that’s already been done to deliver even more benefits for Broadmeadows.”
