Hume residents are being encouraged to take part in a range of online activities celebrating Community Safety Month.

Council said Community Safety Month is held across Hume every October to remind people that we all have a role to play in keeping the community safe.

The activities are focused on the four themes in council’s Safe in Hume: Our Community Safety Plan 2020-2022 to ensure that Hume is an “active, harmonious, safe city where everyone who lives, works or visits participates responsibly without fear or risk of injury”.

The four themes include: Community safety in the public realm; safety around the home; transport safety; and family violence and women’s safety

Activities include an online session on internet safety for parents and caregivers on Monday, October 18, from 11am-12.30pm; Virtual Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday, October 19, 11am-noon; a discussion on the victims assistance program presented by the Roxburgh Park Women’s Circle on Thursday, October 28, 6.30-9pm; and an online session about safety in and around the home for children under five years old on Tuesday, October 19, 6.30-7.30pm.
