Over half of the new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 today are in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
Deputy chief health officer Deb Friedman confirmed that of the 628 new COVID-19 cases recorded in the past 24 hours, over 57 per cent were in metro Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Ms Friedman said there were 194 new cases recorded in Hume, and 80 in Whittlesea.
Ms Friedman said there were further cases connected to a Meadow Heights aged care facility; there are now 21 cases linked to the site, of which 17 are residents and four are staff members.
There was an error in the breakdown of residents and staff cases in yesterday’s press conference, Ms Friedman said.
There were two other clusters of concern announced.
“[There are] 11 cases attributed to a construction warehouse in Craigieburn,” Ms Friedman said.
“[There are also] 15 cases attributed to a wholesale food and supermarket site in Somerton, and the store is closed, while staff are isolating.”
