Playgrounds might be closed to the community for now, but that hasn’t stopped Whittlesea council from giving Epping’s Darebin Creek Parklands a facelift.
Work recently started on the parkland’s upgrade, which includes a new-look playground.
Whittlesea council said the redevelopment will include the installation of ew play equipment and a fitness station, a picnic shelter with seats and tables, a handy bicycle repair station, as well as a drinking fountain and updated landscaping.
As part of the upgrade, both sets of play equipment in the north and south of Darebin Creek Parklands will be removed, including the play equipment at the nearby Kinlora Park, council said.
The shade sail at Darebin Creek Parklands will remain.
The new playground will be located on Dalton Road, Epping.
Construction is expected to be complete by late-October.
The Darebin Creek Parklands upgrade is part of council’s program to revitalise existing local parks and playgrounds.
